More than 2,5 milion tourists and holidaymakers visit Zakopane every year. There are many hotels, hostels and guesthouses in the town. Zakopane is also a well-konwn international spa. Numerous sanatoria and preventoria specialize in curing respiratory system diseases. Zakopane is also the Polish winter sports center. Ski and mountain lovers will enjoy numerous sports facilities, such as Kasprowy Wierch and Gubałówka cable car and dozens of ski lifts of various type. There is also a ski-jump complex with playing fields and other facilities. For hikers there are many well marked tourist trails leading up in the mountains or around them. The town center offers pubs, shops, supermarkets, a cinema, a theater and clubs.
